What is a Goal?
So what is a goal anyway? It can be defined as something that you want to achieve in the future. When it comes to goal, you will have to create a process or system to make it really happen.
The second part to this question is: What is a goal setting and why is it important?
While the term “goal” is really generic, goal setting is more specific in details. With goal setting, you strive for targeted objectives. If you want to achieve something in your life, then you will have to understand how to set goals to accomplish anything.
Why Are Goals Important
Why is goal setting is important? The answer is simple and straightforward. With a goal, people will stay focus. They will keep themselves on track and take the proper actions so that they can reach their goal.
That means, if you have no goal, you are like running blind. You won’t know which direction you will go, and how far you are going to go.
The downside to this is you don’t have enough motivation to enhance yourself and the people that surround you. This is what happens to so many people out there. They don’t have their own personal goals structured in a detailed plan, they’re just kind of winging it.
If you don’t have any goal, your life will pretty much be at a stand still. You will be living like a demented or undead zombie. Humans are the only creatures in the world which can think of and create their future.
Humans are also the only creatures who knows how to set goals. Animals won’t set their goals. They just need to eat, rest, and hunt.
The Importance of Goal Setting
Goal setting will keep you focused on the right path to getting what you want. The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people set goals.
It’s important that you know exactly what you want and how to make your dreams come true. If you have no goal today, don’t postpone! Start jotting down your goals in your notes.
How to Set Goals
Now that you’ve grasped the idea of goal setting, the next thing you need to do is to set your own goals. The next question will be how to set a successful goal.
Goal setting is a process we must go through and many people tend to overlook this. They just imagine things in their minds without writing them down.
It is actually more helpful if you visualize your dreams then write down your dreams and what you want to achieve. This will be a perfect reminder to keep you motivated.
For instance, you want to buy a car in two years…. Write it down!
Keep in mind that your goals must be as detailed as possible and also remember to set a timeline of your goal. If you have a deadline, you won’t take your goals lightly.
A goal without deadline is not a goal, it is a dream. So, what is the difference between goal and dream?
As mentioned before, you’re really just imagining things without a purpose. Awesome things are revolving in your mind, but you have no solutions to make them happen.
Goals, on the other hand, comes with target in mind that has been visualized. That’s why I encourage you to write your dreams down and transform them into goals.
When you have specific goals, the actualization of your goals is highly possible. So avoid imagining and visualizing things without creating a structured process.
Example of Short Term Goals
For example… My goal is to make $3000 in the next 30 days.
$3000 divided by 4 is $750 a week I have to bring in.
So I have to bring in roughly $107 a day to achieve that goal of $3000 in a month.
So if I have a $30 product, I would need to sell 4 every day to be on course to accomplishing my goal.
Setting Goals Are Vital to Success
You already know what you want to achieve and have written them down on paper. Your goals are important here. But they all will be useless if you don’t do as I suggested above.
It should become a habit or second nature. When you stick to the goals, you will continuously tell yourself about the mission you need to accomplish.
When you have this mindset, you will see the opportunity so easily. And this is also the reason why you are able to take action more consistently.
Many people overlook this factor and they just wonder why they’re not successful. You need to constantly make your goals your priority.
Benefits of Goal Setting
The first and foremost benefit of goals is to give us purpose in life. When you set your goals, you already know about something that you want to achieve.
To make it happen, you will focus on your goals and not influenced by outer factors. That means you can mostly banish all the distractions.
Goals will help you keep focused on doing more important things. You will learn to prioritize things. Realize that in order to achieve your goals, you need to be serious and take small but viable actions every day to get closer to achieving them.
Guru’s have different opinions on how they look at goals. Some might state that you will have to have a passion for something when you set goals. Some state that it gives you purpose in life. Well, that is true.
Even success in business is a great benefit that fuels you to keep pushing.
You are really motivated and want to achieve your goals no matter how. But don’t overlook your path to your goals. Surely you will have a starting point and an end point you want to get to.
You are working hard and want to achieve your goals before the deadline happens. And then you make a mistake.
So, what will you do? Will you give up? Or will you rise and try again? Or will you change your goals? What happens next?
Remember one thing… Mistakes are opportunities to grow! So learn from your mistakes.
